"I think he did it because he's afraid of Ben Young winning the election if he runs unopposed," Harry says, regarding the beers blankly.

The charges did not stick to Ben Young, and with no official sheriff there's no one to fire him, but he has the good sense to stay out of Harry Truman's way and spend his time campaigning.
